Vélo Note

After spending the night just outside Nevers, I set off with the goal of covering as much distance as possible, which meant I didn’t get the chance to explore the city center. I was staying in a house that included both dinner and breakfast, and I made the most of it—resting fully, knowing I’d be camping for the next few days. The morning unfolded at a relaxed pace as I enjoyed the company of the hosts and a couple who had also spent the night.

This stage of the journey was mostly flat, allowing me to cover more ground than usual. I took breaks along the canal to take in the serene beauty—the tree-lined banks, boats gliding past, and swans going about their quiet routines. As evening approached, I found a peaceful spot beneath a tree to pitch my tent. Only a few people passed by, and the stillness of the place made it feel like a quiet retreat.

I was able to spend time in Paray-le-Monial in the morning having a good breakfast and watch the people around. Then, it was time to go and before leaving I bought a sandwich for lunch and make a stop in Digoin.

Paray-le-Monial

Paray-le-Monial is easy to include on a cycling or spiritual route through southern Burgundy. It pairs beautifully with places like Cluny, Taizé, and Tournus for a deeper, more introspective journey through the region.
