Canyoning

  • Location: Sierra de Guara

  • Region: Huesca, Aragon

  • Country: Spain

I’ve truly enjoyed coming back here over the years. At first, it was just a weekend escape. Then we returned the following year—and somehow, it became a tradition.

The first time, it was the Barranco Barrasil that left the deepest impression on us. I still remember carrying the neoprene suit on our backs, hiking for nearly an hour before finally stopping to put it on. The moment we stepped into the water, that shocking rush of ice-cold current took our breath away. It was almost brutal at first—but also exhilarating.

The last stretch of the canyon felt like pure heaven. We floated and gently paddled our way toward the end, letting the water carry us. As we drifted, we looked up—mesmerized by the towering cliffs rising on both sides. And high above, vultures glided effortlessly in the open sky.

It was one of those suspended moments in time—quiet, powerful, unforgettable
